Khazna remains the largest provider of business wholesale data services in the UAE. Recently, there were announcements of its five-fold expansion till 2025. These major expansion plans would certainly aid UAE’s ambitions for its digital economy.
Khazna currently has one data centre in Dubai and two others in Abu Dhabi with a combined capacity of 40 megawatts. According to the expansion plan, it is supposed to have 200 megawatts of IT load capacity in the next four years.
While government agencies and companies are busy accelerating digitization, the multiple new data centres built by Khazna would be a vital contribution to infrastructure across the UAE. The country’s digitization drive would gain a lot of support from this move.
Khazna is looking forward to this expansion to enhance its capabilities of availing an extensive range of cost-effective solutions. It assures that its digital and data growth plans will be perfectly accommodated.
In September 2020, UAE telco Du announced that it was planning to sell its 26 percent stake in Khazna to Technology Holding Company for AED800 million. Later, it announced that it would open two data centers in the UAE until the end of 2021. The Holding Company now owns Khazna wholly. It is a part of Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala sovereign wealth fund.

The data service giant’s CEO, Hassan Al Naqbi, said, “This massive expansion would be a significant support to UAE’s economic ambitions in the coming years. The digital transformation has gathered pace during the last year as the private sectors and the UAE government continue to bring forward their efforts for it.”
He added that during the global pandemic, the remote working experience highlighted the significance of excellent state-of-art digital infrastructure for the growth of online services. He said, “There’s a continuous hike in demands for flexible, scalable, and secure solutions for data storage. This will continue as the smart city mission and other futuristic projects of the government gain momentum. 5G networks would be soon rolling, and cloud computing adoption would continue to grow”.
The company was recognized in the year 2012 since when it swiftly grew into one of the main data centre benefactors within the Middle East and the North African territory. Khazna is focused on empowering hyperscalers, and its novel data centres would make sure that market demands would be met while keeping up the trust and client satisfaction.
